Actual nominal sizes are 0.2 inches smaller than listed.Thickness dimensions are ± 1/8 in (± 3 mm).Width and length dimensions are ± 0.13 in (±3 mm). All weights are ± 5%.
Hesco Testing Protocol
NIJ Certification of hard armor requires submission of 10” x 12” test plates whichmust demonstrate the ability to defeat specific rounds tested to a valid NIJ shotpattern, after exposure to a stringent conditioning protocol to simulate agingand wear. Level IIIA requires six .357 sig (9 mm FMJ in the case of NIJ 0108.01)and six .44 mag per plate.
NIJ’s process provides for the inclusion of other size torso plates of identicalconstruction to be included under the Certification without further NIJ testing.
Hesco holds itself to a higher standard by publishing the minimum number ofshots that each size plate can be expected to defeat under similar NIJ testingmethods, as well as listing many additional threats not addressed under the NIJCertification process. The minimum number of shots are shown in the ThreatPerformance Matrix.
