Hawke Vantage IR 4-12×50 Product description

  • 50mm Objective Lens with Large Exit Pupil: The 50mm objective lens combined with 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses provides high light transmission and a bright image across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 12.5 mm at 4× supports a noticeably brighter sight picture at low magnification compared to a 40mm equivalent — a meaningful advantage for hunting use in low-light conditions at dawn and dusk.
  • Three Reticle Variants — General Purpose and Rimfire Specific: The scope is available in three illuminated configurations. The L4A Dot (2.5 MOA) (art. no. 14254) provides a fast, clean aim point for hunting and field use. The Mil Dot IR (art. no. 14250) adds evenly spaced mil dots for holdovers and rough ranging across varying distances. The Rimfire .22 LR Subsonic (art. no. 14251) features a calibre-specific reticle with holdover marks calculated for subsonic .22 LR ballistics, calibrated at 12×, with parallax fixed at 69 metres to suit the shorter engagement distances typical of subsonic rimfire use.
  • Dual-Colour Illumination with 5 Brightness Levels: All three reticle variants are illuminated in red and green across 5 brightness levels with off positions between each step, controlled via a stepped rheostat, allowing the shooter to choose the colour and intensity that best suits the current target background and ambient lighting conditions.
  • Classic 4–12× Magnification for Hunting and Rimfire Use: The 4–12× magnification range provides a field of view of 8.7 metres at 100 metres at minimum power for target identification and a 12× upper end for precise shot placement — also serving as the reference magnification for the Rimfire .22 LR Subsonic reticle’s holdover calibration.
  • Compact and Lightweight for a 50mm Scope: At 341 mm in length and 497 g, the scope is well proportioned for general hunting rifle and rimfire use, delivering the light-gathering benefit of a 50mm objective without excessive weight or bulk. The capped, low-profile, resettable turrets provide 80 MOA of adjustment in ¼ MOA increments, protecting the zero during carry.

About the Vantage Series

The Hawke Vantage series is the broadest riflescope lineup in Hawke’s product range, built on the H2 optical system and covering a wide variety of tube diameters, magnification ranges, and reticle configurations at an accessible price point. The range is designed for hunters, target shooters, and recreational shooters who require a reliable, versatile optic without the cost associated with higher-tier optical systems.

All Vantage models feature 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses delivering consistent light transmission across the magnification range. The lineup spans standard 1-inch, 30mm, and 34mm mono-tube chassis, covering first and second focal plane optics, adjustable objective and fixed parallax variants, illuminated and non-illuminated reticles, and a broad selection of reticle designs including general-purpose, calibre-specific rimfire, and mil dot variants. The Vantage IR 4-12×50 represents the illuminated, fixed-parallax 50mm configuration within the 4-12× class — available in three reticle variants covering general hunting, general-purpose field shooting, and subsonic .22 LR rimfire applications.

About the Model (Hawke Vantage IR 4-12×50)

The Hawke Vantage IR 4-12×50 is an illuminated riflescope designed for hunters and rimfire shooters who want the light-gathering benefit of a 50mm objective lens combined with dual-colour reticle illumination in a compact, fixed-parallax package. The 4–12× magnification range provides a field of view of 8.7 metres at 100 metres at minimum power and a 12× upper end for precise shot placement at typical hunting and rimfire distances. The 50mm objective produces an exit pupil of 12.5 mm at 4×, supporting a bright and accessible sight picture at low magnification during the low-light conditions most relevant to hunting at dawn and dusk.

The H2 optical system with 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses delivers consistent light transmission and a clear image across the magnification range. The 90mm of eye relief is compatible with a range of centrefire, rimfire, and airgun platforms.

Three reticle variants are available, all using fixed parallax, capped, low-profile, resettable turrets, and 80 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment in ¼ MOA click increments. The L4A Dot (2.5 MOA) (art. no. 14254) provides a clean, fast aim point illuminated in red and green with 5 brightness levels — suitable for general hunting and field use. The Mil Dot IR (art. no. 14250) adds evenly spaced mil dots along both axes for holdover estimation and rough ranging, also illuminated in red and green with 5 brightness levels. Both models have parallax fixed at 91 metres. The Rimfire .22 LR Subsonic (art. no. 14251) features a calibre-specific holdover reticle with marks calculated for subsonic .22 LR ballistics, calibrated at 12× — the scope’s maximum magnification — and parallax fixed at 69 metres to suit the shorter engagement distances typical of subsonic rimfire shooting. All three variants feature illumination in red and green with 5 brightness levels and off positions between each step. The mono-tube is nitrogen purged and fully sealed, providing waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance rated for all calibres. Overall length is 341 mm and weight is 497 g.

About Hawke

Hawke Optics is a British optics brand registered in England and Wales, with products distributed across Europe, North America, and international markets. The company produces a broad range of optical products including riflescopes, airgun scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, red dot sights, and laser rangefinders, covering applications from hunting and precision shooting to nature observation and marine use.

Hawke organises its riflescope lineup into distinct optical system tiers — from the entry-level H2 through H5 to the flagship H7 — with each tier reflecting the glass specification, coating technology, and mechanical feature level of the products within it. The Vantage series is built on the H2 system, representing the entry level of Hawke’s riflescope range and providing an extensive selection of configurations at an accessible price point.
