Hawke Vantage IR 3-9×40 AO Product description

  • Illuminated Mil Dot Reticle in Red and Green: The Mil Dot IR reticle provides evenly spaced mil dots along both axes for holdovers, wind corrections, and rough ranging. The reticle is illuminated in red and green across 5 brightness levels with off positions between each step, controlled via a stepped rheostat, allowing the shooter to select the colour and intensity that best contrasts with the current target background and ambient lighting conditions.
  • Adjustable Objective Parallax from 9 Metres: The adjustable objective (AO) ring provides parallax correction from 9 metres to infinity, enabling precise parallax elimination across close to long-range distances without changing grip or breaking the firing position. This makes the scope practical for airgun and rimfire shooting as well as general centrefire hunting use where accurate parallax correction at varying distances is required.
  • Classic 3–9× Magnification with Broad Field of View: The 3–9× magnification range provides a field of view of 13 metres at 100 metres at minimum power — broad enough for fast target acquisition at close range in woodland and general hunting situations — and a 9× upper end that delivers adequate image resolution for confident shot placement at typical hunting distances.
  • H2 Optical System with 40mm Objective: The H2 optical system with 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses and 40mm objective delivers a clear, bright image across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 13.3 mm at 3× supports image brightness in low-light conditions during the early morning and late evening hunting periods most relevant to general field use.
  • Capped Low-Profile Turrets with 100 MOA Adjustment: The capped, low-profile, resettable turrets provide 100 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment in ¼ MOA click increments, protecting the zero from accidental movement during carry while providing a practical adjustment range for a wide variety of platforms and mounting heights.

About the Vantage Series

The Hawke Vantage series is the broadest riflescope lineup in Hawke’s product range, built on the H2 optical system and covering a wide variety of tube diameters, magnification ranges, and reticle configurations at an accessible price point. The range is designed for hunters, target shooters, and recreational shooters who require a reliable, versatile optic without the cost associated with higher-tier optical systems.

All Vantage models feature 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses delivering consistent light transmission across the magnification range. The lineup spans standard 1-inch, 30mm, and 34mm mono-tube chassis, covering first and second focal plane optics, adjustable objective and fixed parallax variants, illuminated and non-illuminated reticles, and a broad selection of reticle designs. The Vantage IR 3-9×40 AO adds dual-colour LED illumination and adjustable objective parallax to the core 3-9×40 platform, making it the most fully specified illuminated variant in the Vantage 3-9×40 family.

About the Model (Hawke Vantage IR 3-9×40 AO Mil Dot IR)

The Hawke Vantage IR 3-9×40 AO Mil Dot IR is an illuminated riflescope combining the practical 3–9× hunting magnification range with an adjustable objective parallax and a dual-colour illuminated Mil Dot reticle — adding close-range parallax correction and reticle illumination to the baseline Vantage 3-9×40 AO platform. The 3–9× magnification range provides a field of view of 13 metres at 100 metres at minimum power and a 9× upper end suited to shot placement at typical centrefire, rimfire, and airgun hunting distances.

The 40mm objective lens, combined with the H2 optical system and 11-layer fully multi-coated lenses, delivers a clear, bright image across the magnification range. An exit pupil of 13.3 mm at 3× supports image brightness in low-light conditions. The 90mm of eye relief is compatible with a wide range of centrefire, rimfire, and airgun platforms.

The Mil Dot IR reticle provides evenly spaced mil dots for holdover estimation and rough ranging, illuminated in red and green with 5 brightness levels and off positions between each step. The AO parallax ring corrects parallax from 9 metres to infinity. The capped, low-profile, resettable turrets provide 100 MOA of elevation and windage adjustment in ¼ MOA click increments. The fast-focus eyebell allows rapid dioptre adjustment. The mono-tube is nitrogen purged and fully sealed, providing waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof performance rated for all calibres. Overall length is 322 mm and weight is 507 g.

About Hawke

Hawke Optics is a British optics brand registered in England and Wales, with products distributed across Europe, North America, and international markets. The company produces a broad range of optical products including riflescopes, airgun scopes, binoculars, spotting scopes, red dot sights, and laser rangefinders, covering applications from hunting and precision shooting to nature observation and marine use.

Hawke organises its riflescope lineup into distinct optical system tiers — from the entry-level H2 through H5 to the flagship H7 — with each tier reflecting the glass specification, coating technology, and mechanical feature level of the products within it. The Vantage series is built on the H2 system, representing the entry level of Hawke’s riflescope range and providing an extensive selection of configurations at an accessible price point.
