A Kit Carson Design
The M40 is based on one of Kit Carson’s relatively unknown custom designs, a sample of which was found in a private collection after his death. CRKT has combined Kit’s design with their Deadbolt Locking Mechanism and created an elegant and very functional folder. The lock design employs two steel bolts that pass through the blade and steel linings for a vault-like lock. Unlocking is safely, and easily, achieved with a light press on the large button at the pivot.
The IKBS™ ball bearing pivot system ensures that these knives open quickly and smoothly. The blades are 1.4116 stainless at 55-57 Rc. with a fine beadblast finish. The handle scales are patterned reinforced nylon on stainless steel liners with gun metal gray matte finished aluminum “bolsters”. Have reversible clips for tip-up carry. Made in Taiwan.
