While the beam tension spring is in no way unusual, the balance of this remarkable lockback is as far from usual as can be!

Begin with what looks like a long pull nail mark. The mark is much wider and deeper than usual and there is one on each side of the blade. The top of each nail mark is sharp to easily grip the skin of the thumb for the best one-hand opening device being used today on an unobtrusive gentleman’s pocketknife.

This 3-13/16″ Wharncliffe handle is seldom made as a lockback because there is not enough room for a lock at the butt of the knife. A lock is possible in our design because we have buried the end of the spring into the back of the lock bar. The 3-1/8″ blade is 1/8″ 8Cr13MoV heat treated to 57-59 Rc., and is so wide that it required a trench in the front of the lock bar for the heel of the blade. The Wharncliffe blade comes to the correct needle-point and is absolutely true to Lord Wharncliffe’s design.

The liners, bolsters, caps, shields and pins are 410 stainless. The ambidextrous one-hand opening folder is available in four handle materials; Black G-10, Smooth White Bone, and India Stag. Measures 3-13/16″ closed. Weighs only 2.9 to 3.0 oz. depending on the handle material. Made in China.
