You want to know how your self-defense load is going to perform when you need it, but practicing with hollow point ammo can be cost-prohibitive. That’s why Winchester offers their W Train & Defense line of ammunition. This 38 Special training round is loaded to exactly mirror the performance of its sister round from the same label, which has an expanding hollow point bullet.
This cartridge sports a 130 grain full metal jacket bullet. Its terminal effect would not be as devastating as the defense round it imitates, but it is far more affordable, feeds dependably in a semi-automatic, and staves off the kind of rapid fouling which impacts a pistol’s accuracy. This round delivers reduced recoil, making it more comfortable to train with as well as easier to quickly empty out a cylinder with precision. This round also features a lead-free primer, which is great when you’re training indoors where air circulation might not be optimal.
