It is only fitting that a Heavy Dove Load should be loaded with a generous portion of 1 ⅛ ounces of 7.5 lead dove shot. This shot has the weight that it takes to reliably penetrate the feathers of doves in addition to woodcock, quail, and grouse, but at .095” in diameter this shot size hasn’t got the oomph it takes to render a trophy worthless at a range of about 30 yards. Should you be called upon to compete in trap or skeet with only these shells at your disposal, you won’t arrive short-handed — this shot size excels at shattering fast flying clays as well, a patent of its versatility.
