The bullet’s gilding metal jacket fitted over its soft lead core is specially scored inside and out to ensure uniform and rapid expansion, so the jacket and lead will peel to their base together after impact to double the bullet’s original diameter. This cartridge’s very high muzzle velocity of 1,050 fps is meant to help its bullet penetrate clothing without letting the fabric hamper its expansion.
