Winchester Double XX 12 gauge Turkey loads offer some of the hardest hitting single shot size shotshells in the turkey hunting world. The massive load of 5 shot is perfect for turkey hunting out to 40 yards and is well suited to the difficulties of bagging those hyper aware, head bobbing Toms. Achieving 1150 velocity out of the bore, the 3.5” shell offers a considerable 2 ¼ ounce payload of densely packed 5 shot, for improved consistency in patterning out to distances that you didn’t think were possible.
The thin turkey neck and hard to hit bobbing head maneuvers require the heaviest pattern of shot to guarantee a successful kill. This load can deliver by means of the sheer volume of lead that is put on target. No more need for fancy duplex loads or gimmicky shot cup innovations – this is about throwing more ordnance at the problem. The reality is: more lead on target equals a greater chance of dispatching that target.
Winchester rounds are comparably less expensive than competitor rounds in the field, though they are not considered bargain rounds. The amount of materials and design work that goes into a 3.5” shell can be substantial; for this you’ll be expected to pay a premium.
