A slightly gentler recoil profile for the .30-06 and a much improved cost structure, this Wolf ammo from their “Military Classics” line is truly at its best when working in the context of surplus guns chambered in the caliber; or plinking guns in the heavy duty .30-06. While this could be used for a hunting gun, there are much better loads that are specifically built for that, including some other steel cased ammunition that would make sense.
This round almost seems like it was built for the Garand or other semi autos chambered in .30-06. It is no doubt, suitable for use in any .30-06 rifle, the makeup and engineering of the cartridge make it perfectly suited to semi-auto functionality. The slight indentation at the base of the cartridge does a few things, namely increasing the flexibility and extraction of the spent casing. The laquer coating on the casing also aids in anti corrosion protection preempts reliability concerns.
Note: The bi-metal projectile does attract a magnet and most ranges will check given that you are shooting steel cartridges. Most ranges classify a bi-metal projectile out of a high powered rifle to be “armor piercing”. Please plan appropriately to avoid concerns.
